A day in the life: Cassie Rodgers
What really goes on behind the scenes at Zipform Digital? Production Manager Cassie Rodgers walks us through a typical day coordinating one of the busiest operations in customer communications.
With over 10 years at Zipform Digital, Cassie Rodgers has seen every side of production operations.
She began as a casual handline assistant on a major job and has steadily built her career since then, making the most of the opportunities that come with being part of a large organisation like Zipform Digital.
Q: What has been your career path with Zipform Digital?
I’ve been with Zipform Digital for just over 10 years, starting back in November 2014 as a handline assistant on a big job. What began as a casual role quickly grew into a career — within a year I was offered a full-time position as a Customer Service Rep.
After a few years, I returned to Production as a Production Administrator, whilst stepping onto a clear path toward leadership. Fast forward to today, and I’ve proudly been leading the team as Production Manager for the past four years.
Q: What’s the first thing you do every day when you get to work?
The first thing I do is crack open an energy drink — I’m really not a coffee person! Then I take a walk around the factory to say hello and check in with the team. Since our machine and print operators start very early, it’s my chance to see how the morning has been going and catch up with everyone.
Q: What happens during a normal day for you?
A typical day for me is all about keeping things running smoothly as possible. Mornings start with checking upcoming work and making sure stock is ready for inserting. Then it’s all about rearranging the work queue to get each mail machine operating as efficiently as possible. If we have a big job coming up, I’ll need to work on finalising rosters and confirming capacity to ensure the team is set for that busy period. The role is a mix of planning, problem-solving, and making sure the operation runs at full speed.
Q: How do you finish each day?
I wrap up my day by reviewing the roster for the next day and making sure all upcoming jobs are on track to be finished. Then it’s time to switch off from work, pick up my son from daycare, make dinner, and spend time with my family — a perfect way to end the day.
